As part of a client side restructure and audit - we were asked to re-pitch for the Nando's account. Long story short, we went big, Barry from Eastenders was involved, and we won. Now in typical client fashion that work didn't get made - but we were asked to reformat the idea without Barry, to launch a new and exciting chicken burger that had a garlic bread bun.
Our approach was informed by one single thought - you can get a chicken burger anywhere, the chicken isn't why you're going to Nando's - you're going to Nando's for the sides. SO to hero this new burger, we wanted to really harness our...
Side Character Energy
This was the antidote to "Main character energy" that was filling our socials. and allowed us to hero not just the new burger - but give all of the sides a chance in the spotlight. We created "Side Character TV" a mock TV channel that allowed us to parody a series of old shows - from a Macho Pea cartoon, to a straight-to-tv heist movie and a 90s style compilation album advert. It also allowed us to play with a host of different design aesthetics, utilising production, animation, 3D and 2D motion.
